Product Description

A key role in defense – the oral microbiome

The mouth, nose, and throat are the gateways for foreign microorganisms. The mouth is home to the first line of defense: the oral microbiome, also known as oral flora or oral microbiome. These are microorganisms that are naturally present in the mouth, mostly beneficial bacteria that live on the lining of the mouth.

Oral flora performs key functions in the mouth and throat. A large number of different bacteria remove foreign germs and thus prevent them from settling in the oral cavity. Namely, some types of bacteria in the oral flora can produce special antibodies that specifically attack and eliminate dangerous (pathogenic) microorganisms.

A healthy oral microbiome consists of about 800 to 1000 different types of bacteria. It is influenced by our lifestyle: unhealthy diet, medications or strong changes in the pH value in the oral cavity, for example due to food with a high sugar content, can affect the oral microbiome and reduce the variety and number of beneficial bacteria. As a result, an imbalance in the oral cavity, the so-called dysbiosis, which means that our oral microbiome can no longer fully fulfill its tasks.

For all of the above reasons, it is essential to support the oral microbiome through a healthy diet, maintaining a neutral pH in the oral cavity, and supplementing with beneficial bacteria, especially in combination with vitamin D, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system. In addition, the cells in the oral mucosa, which are regularly renewed, need sufficient vitamin D for their division process, which is important for maintaining the function of the oral mucosa as a barrier against harmful microorganisms.

OMNi-BiOTiC iMMUND contains a bacterial strain Streptococcus salivarius K12, which is naturally present in the oral cavity, and whose effectiveness has been proven by numerous scientific studies. With the addition of vitamin D, it contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth and the normal function of the immune system of children and adults.

Sugar-free lozenges with a fruity strawberry flavor are specially designed for children, and are loved by adults as well.
