Our intestinal bacteria perform a number of tasks, including digesting food. All of our intestinal bacteria can be divided into 2 main groups: bacteroids and firmicates. In a healthy intestinal flora, these two groups are present in an ideal ratio of 1: 1, meaning that the intestines contain approximately equal amounts of each.
However, overweight people often have an unbalanced intestinal flora in which firmicles predominate. For some people, this ratio can be 2.000: 1. So, guts can contain 2.000 times more firmute than bacteroids!
Firms have a special property of breaking down food ingredients that people cannot normally digest (fiber carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates). This creates a large amount of easily digestible carbohydrates in the gut - much more than in the gut with an optimal balance of bacteria. These carbohydrates are absorbed into the body along with the calories obtained through food. This "hidden" intake can easily reach 200 calories more - and every day!
