The symptoms of allergic diseases depend on the substance (allergen) that triggers the allergic reaction and on the organic system in which this substance manifests its action. In the case of allergens that are introduced into the body by inhalation, symptoms from the respiratory system are most often dominant. In the case of allergens that are introduced into the body by swallowing, symptoms from the digestive system or the skin dominate, rarely from the respiratory system. Allergens that come into contact with the body through the skin cause the most common skin problems.
Signs of an allergic disease of the upper respiratory system (allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis): swelling of the nasal mucosa with difficulty breathing through the nose, increased secretion from the nose, itching of the nose, sneezing, reduction or even complete disappearance of the sense of smell, itching and watery eyes, itching of the ear canal, itching palate, sore throat.
The most common symptoms of allergic disease of the lower respiratory tract: dry, stimulating cough (often at night), feeling of heaviness or pressure in the chest, feeling of difficulty breathing or suffocation, wheezing and/or wheezing when breathing, difficulty bearing effort.
