Allantoin also acts as an emollient, which means that it creates a thin film around the skin that prevents water loss and makes the skin elastic (2).

Comfrey stimulates cell regeneration and tissue renewal, yarrow stimulates skin regeneration, while black mallow helps with epithelization of the skin.

There are only two plants in the entire plant world that contain B-12, and comfrey is one of them. It contains a lot of B vitamins, and vitamin B-12 is extremely important for the formation of red blood cells.

Hamamelis supports the skin's ability to regenerate.

Soothing effect and pain relief
Many scientific studies have proven that comfrey root extract reduces swelling and pain caused by sprains or dislocations.

One such study reports that larger swellings completely or largely disappeared within 8 days in 85% of patients who applied comfrey ointment to the wounded area (3).

As comfrey regenerates tissues thanks to allantoin, it is successfully used for fractures, sprains, painful joints, torn wounds, ulcers, hard swellings, rheumatism and gout.
