Beta-glucan is a long-chain polysaccharide that has the property of activating the immune system. It is obtained from the cell wall of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). In nature, it can be found in cereals (oats, barley), mushrooms (reishi, chaga, shiitake and maitake) and some types of algae.
