What is Bioapigyn vaginal ointment used for?

Bioapigyn vaginal ointment is intended to relieve the symptoms of vulvovaginal complaints caused by an increase in vaginal pH, characterized by vaginal discharge, vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, unusual vaginal odor, irritation, burning, itching, and edema in the vaginal and vulva area.

How does Bioapigyn vaginal ointment work?

Bioapigyn Vaginal Ointment is a class IIa medicinal product intended for women over 18 years of age, both in reproductive age and those in menopause/postmenopause, to alleviate the symptoms of vulvovaginal complaints (vaginal discharge, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, irritation, burning, itching and edema in the vulvo-vaginal area) caused by an increase in vaginal pH due to estrogen deficiency, unprotected intercourse due to the alkaline value of sperm, during menstruation due to the alkaline value of menstrual blood and after antibiotic therapy that kills the lactobacilli responsible for maintaining the normal acidity of the vaginal pH.

The complex mixture of ingredients creates an acidic, viscous environment with low water activity that prevents the growth, adhesion and reproduction of pathogens and lowers the pH of the vagina to optimal acidic values. Coating, lubrication and softening of the product results in the creation of a protective layer on the damaged mucous membrane, which enables its restoration and prevents further irritation, relieves vaginal dryness and painful intercourse.

Also, the combination of essential oils and plant macerate removes unpleasant odors that accompany various pathological conditions.

Summary of clinical trial results : Ten days of treatment Bioapigyn vaginal ointment (2,5 mL daily) resulted in an 85% reduction in self-assessed symptoms of vulvovaginal disorders, a 94% reduction in examiner-assessed signs/symptoms, a 14,4% reduction in vaginal pH with an 87% clinical cure rate. Moreover, patients with a disturbed balance of vaginal flora after 10 days of application showed complete normalization and establishment of a healthy balance of vaginal flora with the predominance of lactobacilli in vaginal secretions.

None of the patients experienced any side effects (worsening of existing symptoms, appearance of new symptoms, irritation or allergic reactions) during the treatment and follow-up period.

How to use

Bioapigyn vaginal ointment is intended for internal and external use on the mucous membranes of the genital tract. Use before bedtime. Insert 2,5 mL of ointment deep into the vagina using the applicator. After each use, separate the applicator plunger from the body and clean the parts with warm water and detergent. After washing your hands, apply a thin layer of ointment with your finger to the external genitalia.

Precautions and storage conditions: The device must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding and in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the product. The device must be stored in a dark place out of the reach of children at a temperature below 25 ⁰ C.
